Stupid Sunburn

My T-Shirts are fine with it, but a collard shirt is rubbing right over the worst part.

Looks like I'll have to wait until the weekend to finish, as rain is in the forecast for the first part of this week. I hope the unstained portion dries in time.

Five weeks, Four days

That's what the nurse said when we went to see them. It's now starting week six, so If I have the math right, in January, I get to be a Dad. Yes, I'm scared witless. I'm the youngest out of my family, both nuclear and extended. I never baby-sat or took care of a cousin. I was the one that was taken care of. So, I'm reading books. Here's hoping that can at least give me a ground level idea on what I'm up against :) Next month is the ultrasound.

On the more mundane. I'm staining my deck. SHerwin-Williams Deckscapes Oil-Based Semi-Transparent Tint (Cedar Bark) Looks real pretty. Only 1/2 done however, as God decided to dump some much needed rain in the middle of my painting. Well, the stuff I put on earlier today repelled the water :). I'll finish it the coming weekend. and THIS time I'll put sunblock on my neck. This one is so bad, I think it's blistering.

Non-Mowing (but outdoorsy) post

Well, I'm looking to buy a shed, and that's the easy bit. Leveling the ground, finding "the" spot to put it, seeing if installation is an option, or do I have to do it myself, there's the fun bit.

But actually I am also looking to reseal my deck. It looks like the sealant is wearing off and I neet to remake it. However, I know next to nil about stains & Waterproofers. Only thing I know is Thompson's is not up to the task. Now, my local Lowe's & Home Depot have Olympic. I've seen the name, but don't know it's quality. Anyone out there who reads my blog (all 5 of you) have any ideas?

Last Mowing Post I hope

It's become an obession apparently.

I'm praying the rain they're predicting will not come till later this evening. As, I can mow tonight without fear of bagging. That's my plan at any rate

Backup plan includes putting put pictures. Since we now have all the furniture in the living areas, the pictures are going up. Yesterday inbetween Mother's Day visits to Mom & Grandma, I put up my Shotglass holder, and my shotglasses (Side note: I"m miffed at the Excalibur Shotglass I got from my brother. It's Uber-cool with a little sword in the stone in it, however, I guess the heat from somewhere popped the glue of the stone to the glass, so I have to reglue it) so tha tcorner now looks "full". I also got permission to put up my Hunting party picture.

Now, before people think men in camoflauge drinking bear and holding rifiles... It's actually a large gathering of Men in red Coats on Horses with the Hounds, kinda British Fox Hunt. It's behind the Loveseat, where the missus said she'd like it because she'd rarely see it there :)

My Birthday Present of a handmade Clock will hopefully be up by this week upstairs in the living room, along with my Water & Farmhouse picture. Then comes Sara's Medevil prints and various other photos that were hanging all about the house.

I guess this is more of a reminder to me than to blog, but I need to get to Home Depot and look at making a 74" long, 24" deep countertop for some cabinets my Stepfather is making for the kitchen. That and a shed that'll fit in near our house to appease the 10ft easement rule.

Back Half's Done!

The rain they predicted for the afternoon disapated to very sunny skies with 81 degrees. So I mowed. And I Trimmed around the fence... that took about as long as mowing the back of the yard. Well, the backyard needed bagging, as it was taller than my dog. Which, i guess isn't much since she's a mini Dachshund, and only stands about 5" tall, but still it would have just sputtered and spit all over my lawn, so into the big brown paper bags it went. I also hadn't trimmed using my weed eater in about 2.5 weeks, so that stuff was pretty tall and over grown around the fence. It's an electric one, so you have to fight the cord, which from time to time likes to unplug itself. I've been told to get a gas/oil one, but last time I used one of those, it spit oil and sludge all over me while I used it, so I'll stick to the electric, and just deal with the cord

So, since my outdoor chorese are done (well, there's a whole I have to spackle, but I also have to remove a unused cable cord, which involves moving furniture and playing with the wall, so that'll wait till the weekend) I get to play City of Villains tonight!

Mowing and the rain

I've noticed of late my blog has been concerning an ongoing struggle of my lush green lawn, and the overly abundant amount of rain we've been getting. Last night I got the front half mowed, then the clouds rolled in and the temp dropped. Being still new to the whole world of home ownership, I decided to call it 1/2 done and wait until today to mow the rest. My bad.

Well the rain came.. but at 1:30am CDT. So I could have finished. Yay. Better news: It rained until 3am this morning, got dry, but may start again at 3pm, so I may have to wait again. So, not only did I not get it done, but I may not get a chance to until Wednesday, or Thursday.... Well, i guess it's better than having part of the backyard mowed, so that it would be different levels.

A weekend... at home?

Yep, for the first time in a while, i'll be able to stay at home. Granted, this weekend I'm on call and it's mother's Day, but still, I'll stay in Missouri.

Picked up furniture this weekend. the House looks Full :). Couple of chairs with footstools & a couch up stairs. Got a coffee table & end tables to boot, but Don't think we have the room for it, those may go to our friends who have very little furniture indeed.

The front room is almost all set up, so that means we can start hanging pictures.

Got her Grandmother's Patio furniture too. They need a bit of cleaning, as the extremely wet weather as of late got them a bit muddy. Not a problem, some elbow grease and Violin!

Boring life

I'd post more often if things actually occurred in my life. But nothing terribly thrilling or exciting has occurred.

Went to a wedding this weekend. It was pretty. The bridesmaids dresses were all handmade, and looked VERY good. Also, the place was a good setting. On the National Historical Registry. Scottish Rite Center in Wichita. They got married on this grand staircase that looks like it should be in the Foyer of a Mansion.

Got another wedding this weekend. It's somewhere around Wichita, I think. And the missus isn't in it, so we just get to go and see it :).

Picking up upstairs furniture this weekend too. And Patio furniture.

Okay, So I guess I do have things going on in my life, they just don't seem "diary worthy"
