Celebration of Gluttony
Well Thanksgiving has come and gone. I wonder if I should promote this to my favorite holiday. Not necesarily due to all the wonderful food I ate (can anyone say Smoked turkey?) but because this is I believe the ONE and ONLY holiday that commercialism cannot corrupt.
Christmas shopping begins 2 weeks before Halloween now because business wants a larger holiday shopping season, Easter is all about Chocolate.. so is Halloween come to think of it, and again to christmas, it is so secular now that many people probably forget that it once was a religous holiday.
But Thanksgiving, ah wonderful Thanksgiving, it's all about food. Food and family. Food and family and football (go Chiefs!) Can't really commercialize, or sell any products there.
Grocery stores probably love the holiday, but there's no market room for it.
Anyway, went to the In-law's for Thanksgiving this year, and my wife and hers to 2 thanksgivings... one for each Grandparent. I had to learn to pace myself in eating so I would be able to eat at both. The food at both was delictable.
And as tradition you're supposed to add about 4-25 pounds during this holiday, and I decided to check my weight AT NIGHT, AFTER DINNER, (both ways in the snow no shoes) and I didn't gain a single pound! Yay Me.
